Safeguard Your Child’s Teeth

dentist showing boy his teethAdopting good oral hygiene habits starting at a young age can translate to a beautiful, healthy smile for a lifetime. That’s why at Go Dental Surgery we encourage parents to bring in their children around their first birthday for their initial dental check.

Routine Checks and Sealants

To attain and maintain peak oral health, we recommend that kids visit us twice a year for the following:

  • Exam
  • Scale and clean
  • Fluoride treatment

Sealants also may be recommended because the deep grooves of the back teeth are at a high risk for decay and staining. Sealants, which are applied to the teeth, can help to keep the area clean and avoid unwanted decay. In most cases, we recommend placing sealants on younger patients, soon after the first and second sets of molars erupt.

Home Care

Your children can keep their pearly whites gleaming and healthy by brushing at least twice a day and flossing once a day. It’s also essential that they avoid eating sugary, sticky or starchy foods that can promote tooth decay. We also recommend avoiding sports drinks.

Athletic Mouth Guards

If your child plays sports, it’s required that they wear a mouth guard here in WA. Our dentists are experts at creating comfortable, custom-fitted mouth guards made from the highest-quality materials. Because they are formed to your child’s teeth, they are superior to the ones that are available in sporting goods stores. We can make mouth guards in an array of colours. Children’s dental-fitted mouth guards (at least one per year) are typically covered by major healthcare funds in Australia.

We look forward to helping your child enjoy optimal oral health for a lifetime. Contact us today for an appointment!
